DAY 1
So there I was bright eyed and bushy tailed.... sound asleep in bed ignoring the clock telling me it was 9:00am, then 10:00am, then 11:00 am until I finally got out of bed at 11:30. Once i had woken up, I finally realised today I was going to scavenge bike bits for my two bikes. Once I got there, Me and Ben realised there was a money making scheme here..... "If we build up one of these frames, we could sell it on, and wudn't cost us anything" I thought whilst Ben started smashing things with the rubber mallet. I finally told Ben this who agreed he wanted to help, and showed his interest by trying to ride a motorised tandem. Anyway once I found a few bits, I could do the rest at home and hopefully build up a nice neat bike. After Ben threw a tatty, rusty Gold + black frame at me with eagerness, I started to get slightly put off by the idea. "It could work" he told me. Yeah Ben, just like doing the hip at the skatepark would be easy. We searched the workshop some more till we found a yellow Universal, something or other, with shitty blue plastic wheels. What didn't put me off was that it was me who found it, whereas Ben was used to finding things that somehow were just crap. So we had a frame. Great. Now we needed some wheels. We wanted some nice 48h wheels, but we only found 1 rusty, front one. So that idea went down the pisser. Then Ben turned up a nice 38h front wheel that was rust free. Yessss. "Just need a matching back one" I thought when again, Ben found it. Except it didn't have a sprocket. =8¬| They simply screw on though which was a relief, well it would have been if there was one there to hand. Ben got lost in his little world again beating the crap out of things with the mallet. I left him and went into the storeroom to have a look there. Searching for 20" wheels in a big place is really hard an frustrating. Ben's pounding started to annoy me. "Ben stop hitting things and put the mallet down". "Im doing something...." NOOO!! Hes probably found a rat or something and he was chiselling its brains out. I walked back to him to find he found ( =8¬S) a freewheel on a plastic hub. We destroyed it and we gained our two wheels. So we came home with a landrover full of stuff. Only half of it was for the new BMX, cos some was for Ben (which he found interesting, and no he didn't get the Tandem) the others were for my two bikes. As soon as we got in, I started....
.....Taking the frame to bits. I took the cranks out, and the forks out, and gave EVERYTHING a clean. We've decided we're going to spray the frame and wheels black, and have red tyres and brakes. Hopefully, It'll look cool. The end of today though, not much was done....
